Come and see it for yourself.
The best way to understand Leweston Prep is to walk through the door while school is in full swing. You will see children absorbed in things that genuinely interest them, outdoors, in the classroom, building something, arguing about something, discovering something they did not know they could do.
Book a personal visit and you will meet the Head of Prep, tour the campus, and see for yourself what a new adventure every day actually looks like. Most families leave saying they had no idea Leweston was like this.
Ready for anything. Entirely themselves.

A new adventure every day
At Leweston Prep, history and science and literacy are not separate lessons to be sat through in sequence. They are threads in the same investigation, pulling a child deeper into something that genuinely interests them. By the end of a topic, a Leweston Prep child has not just covered material. They have followed a question, formed an argument, changed their mind, and come back for more.
The fifty acres of Dorset countryside are part of the curriculum, not a backdrop to it. Children learn outside, take on challenges that cannot be ticked off a worksheet, and build the kind of physical confidence that translates into everything else they do.
The adventure is real and it is daily, but what it is building, term by term, topic by topic, is a child who is curious, resilient, and entirely ready for whatever comes next.

"“Why did we choose Leweston? Because it was a school that wears its heart on its sleeve and didn’t pretend to be something it wasn’t. We liked the ethos of kindness whilst challenging the children to always do better.”"

Questions families often ask
What is the topic curriculum?
Rather than teaching subjects in isolation, the Prep connects them through a central theme each term. A topic such as the Ancient World or Utopia and Dystopia runs through English, history, science, art and more, so learning feels joined up and children go deeper rather than wider.
What age groups do you cater for?
Leweston Prep welcomes boys and girls aged 5 to 11. For younger children, our outstanding Nursery offers care and early education from 3 months to 4 years, providing a smooth pathway into Reception and beyond.
How does Leweston support busy family life?
We offer free wrap-around care from 8:00am to 5:45pm, flexible boarding options and daily minibus routes. Many pupils complete homework at school, so evenings and weekends can be kept for family time and activities.
What happens after Prep, does my child move automatically to the Senior School?
The transition from Prep to Senior School is designed to be seamless, familiar faces, the same values, a bigger stage. There is no entrance exam for Prep pupils moving up. The progression is by design.
