A New Adventure Every Day
We know there’s a better way for children to grow, one where learning is an adventure and progress matters more than perfection. At Leweston Prep, every day brings new ideas, new discoveries and new confidence. Our topic-based curriculum, small year groups and caring staff mean your child is known, encouraged and inspired.
Leweston Prep is an independent day and boarding prep school for boys and girls aged 5–11, set in 50 acres of Dorset countryside. The best way to understand if Leweston is right for your family is to come and see it in action. Book your personal visit during Prep School Visit Week by completing the form on this page with your preferred date and time. Our Registrar, Mrs Wilson, will be in touch promptly to confirm the details and answer any initial questions.
What to expect during your visit
During your visit you will:
- Tour our beautiful campus and step into real lessons to see learning in action.
- Meet the Head of Prep to talk about Leweston’s approach, your child’s interests and future ambitions.
- Meet our teachers and pupils to find out how we personalise education for every child.
- Experience our warm, welcoming community and explore what’s available beyond the classroom – from clubs and trips to sport, music and riding.
We recommend allowing at least 90 minutes for your visit. Please arrive around five minutes early to complete a short registration and get settled before your tour begins. Your visit is relaxed and informal, there’s no obligation to register, just a chance to see whether Leweston feels right for your family.
"“Why did we choose Leweston? Because it was a school that wears its heart on its sleeve and didn’t pretend to be something it wasn’t. We liked the ethos of kindness whilst challenging the children to always do better.”"

Learning That Inspires and Engages
Our innovative, topic-based curriculum sparks curiosity and builds real-world skills. Each term, subjects are connected through a central theme so that learning feels joined up and meaningful. Themes such as “Utopia and Dystopia” encourage pupils to explore big ideas, ask questions and make connections across English, humanities, science, art and more.
This approach is underpinned by our bespoke Leweston Learner programme, which nurtures:
- resilience and independence
- collaboration and communication
- creativity and critical thinking
- global awareness and responsibility
Pupils gain a broad, future-ready education that prepares them not just for exams, but for life beyond the classroom.
A Healthy, Active and Balanced School Day
Children at Leweston enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle, with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and physical activity. On a typical day they might:
- explore our extensive grounds, woods and outdoor classrooms
- take part in games, swimming or specialist PE
- ride at the Leweston Chedington Riding Academy or get involved in Pentathlon GB training
- join clubs and activities that help them discover new talents
Our wrap-around care and flexible boarding options support busy family life, giving children time and space to thrive while making daily routines easier for parents.
A Community That Feels Like Family
Leweston Prep is more than just a school, it is a deeply welcoming community where every child is known as an individual and every family feels at home. Our staff build strong relationships with pupils and parents, offering:
- close academic and pastoral support
- clear routines and high expectations
- encouragement for effort and character, not just results
Children build lasting friendships and a sense of belonging that stays with them long after they leave the classroom.
